Scope & Content Group of documents and artifacts from the Brethren missionary family of Ernest M. and Elizabeth B. Wampler. Ernest first went to China in 1918. Elizabeth first went to China in 1922. Ernest later went to China through Burma in 1941- 1945 to do medical relief work. His family arrived in China in 1947. They were prevented from leaving until 1950 after the Communist takeover of the country. These materials appear to be from their last visits to China.

Contents include the following items:

Ernest M. Wampler's travel log dated October 26, 1935- September 9, 1943 with expenses recorded in 1943. He also used the log as an autograph/ address book. Wampler wrote of famine conditions, other missionaries in China, architecture, travel during WWII and a little on Buddhism in China.

Ernest M. Wampler's business card printed English on the front and Chinese on the reverse. It names him as Executive Secretary of the Kiangsi Christian Rural Service Union. Sun Yi Chih signed the card in English and Chinese.
