Description Heavy brass canister used to carry and store Indian clarified butter, ghee. Turned brass canister with a heavy screw top used to carry butter from the market and store it in the home. Canister is 5 1/8" in diameter with shoulders tapering to accommodate a 3 1/2" diameter lid with deep threads. Has a cast brass handle secured by two trunnions with copper rivets. Engraved in script "From Narsis to Miss Rup". Interior lined with zinc to prevent brass reacting with butter. Four plain incised lines girdle body for identification.
