Description Fossil of boring clams in rocks. Older inventory note reads: (Pelecypoda), Lithodomus (Rock-boring clams). Place: Ventura, California. Cenozoic geological time period.--with a number of clam holes. This type of clam is said to secrete an acid that dissolves the rock into which it bores.
