Description Fine flintlock pistol, marked "7," likely part of a sporting or dueling set. Sterling silver stock with heavy floral filigree over stock, handle and trigger guard. The silver stock is worked in the Engilish silversmith style. Lock is 18th century English standard. Crude crowned female figure, said to be Athena, engraved at breech. May instead be a Celtic fertility figure. Green man engraved in diamond on underside of stock. Barrel set in stock. Some crown proof stamping on barrel. Decorative engraving on flintlock mechanism. Lacking flint. Toothed trigger. Round pommel. Provenance is that this firearm belonged to a prince. It was likely an English made gun and presented to a Greek individual.
