Description High-necked black damask bodice in cotton with a sateen weave. Damask vine design woven into the fabric. Front closing with a hidden pin pleat for straight-pinning the bodice closed. Series of three pleats, facing outwards, on either side sewn down from the shoulder five inches and then left open. The back features two 1''-wide pleats facing either direction, fully sewn from the shoulders to the base, while the center back is drawn into gathers. The center back has a waistband attached to be wrapped around to the front of the bodice and pinned shut to control the gathering of the bodice all around. The bottom of the bodice fronts have raw edges and are not finished, while the back has a .25" machine-sewn hem. The bodice is not lined. The sleeves are full, being gathered at the armscye and into the 2.75" wide cuffs. Machine-made with hand-gathering.
