Description Black dress made Church of the Brethren plain clothes style. Gathered bodice wtih high neckline and wide Peter Pan collar trimmed in black lace. Front opening. Right side overlaps left side-edge of right side trimmed with two vertical lengths of the same black lace trimming the collar. Between the two lengths of lace runs a row of 12 small round black buttons, plastic with dull sheen finish, decorative and non-functional. No discernable functional closure for the front, possibly held closed with pins. Bodice gathers into wide waistband, open front falls into dog-leg closure secured at center front with 2 hooks and eyes and, likely, pins on the side. Plain long sleeves finished with wide, cuff-like hem. Skirt gathered to waistband, constructed of 3 smaller panels in the front/sides (to accomodate the dog-leg closure) and 1 larger width back panel. Wide hem.
