Judge Muntzing opened his speech with some anecdotes, addressed needs to rebuild moral and spiritual values, and advocated for donations to Bridgewater College's "8 by 80 Program" fiscal campaign. .

Judge H. Gus Muntzing was a member of the Bridgewater College Class of 1926. He served on the Bridgewater College board of trustees from 1945 until his retirement in 1977.

Founder's Day is an annual Bridgewater College celebration that remembers the birthday of College founder D. C. Flory.
