Bridgewater College Family and Consumer Sciences Department records, 1940s- 2000s, bulk 1950s - 1990s These materials are from the Family and Consumer Sciences Department at Bridgewater College (Bridgewater, Va.). They reflect the department's origins as a Home Economics department, the construction of Moomaw Hall, the Preschool/ Play School/ Child Lab, Bridgewater College Homecoming activities and Family and Consumer Sciences student organizations. Information from departmental fashion shows, community nutrition programs, and fieldtrips are included. There are clippings of alumni in their engagement and marriage announcements as well as clippings about current students' activities and alumni. The photographs have major themes of preschool/ play school, especially with children in costumes for Halloween and circus day; the Bridgewater College Homecoming parade, the Bridgewater College Faculty and Consumer Sciences Department's Homecoming receptions, and FACS student clubs. There are also some travel and fashion show photographs and slides. There is an excellent scrapbook documenting the activities of the women living and entertaining in the Home Management House during the 1950s.
