Zula Mildred Gochenour Bridgewater College (Bridgewater, Va.) papers, 1906 - 1966. Zula Mildred Gochenour, 1885 - 1965, graduated the Music Teacher's Course at Bridgewater College in 1906. She earned a diploma from Bridgewater Academy in 1924. She was also a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music. She taught piano at Bridgewater Academy from 1922 - 1924 and piano and music history at Bridgewater College from 1908 - 1910 and 1931 - 1934. Contents include: A January 1906 humorous poem about the romantic antics of Zula and three other young women at Bridgewater College. Two programs of the Bridgewater Choral Union's performance of The Rose Maiden, April 13, 1906. Bridgewater College commencement program, 1906. Gochenhour performed in a quartet and sang in a duet as part of the Class Program. She also had a piano solo during the commencement program. Her name is listed in the Music Teachers' section of the program. Handbills from two music programs in which Gochenour performed. One was on April 27, 1906 and the other was June 16, 1906. This may be a photograph from the 125th Anniversary of the Town of Bridgewater, Va., which was in 1960. Scattered Bridgewater College alumni and community publications, 1957, 1959, 1961, 1965 and 1966. The 1957 publication is a clipping of the cover story honoring Mattie V. Glick. Two of the publications list the names on the Roll of Honor bronze tablet that honors those who donated to the Crusade for Excellence and funded Bridgewater College's first library building, the Alexander Mack Memorial Library, 1964 - 2018. A memorial of Zula Gochenour by Agnes Kline appears on p. 18 of the The Bridgewater Alumnus, 1966.
