Black and white portrait of Charles S. Driver as a young man, circa 1916. Probably taken during his time as a student at Bridgewater College (Bridgewater, Va.) He wears a suit jacket and tie. The photograph fades against a white background. The photograph is matted and stamped by Dean's Studio, Harrisonburg, Va. Someone has captioned the image with his named and wrote "(was a Hunch back)". Driver was an avid photographer and naturalist. He completed graduate and postgraduate training in biology. He accepted the chair of Bridgewater College's biology department but died by drowning while on a boating excursion near Boston in 1920 before the session began. Driver was injured in a childhood fall at his family farmhouse in Wyers Cave, Virginia. |
