Otis D. Kitchen Bridgewater College photograph album, 1949 - circa 1953, bulk 1949- 1950. The majority of photographs in the album are scenes from the Bridgewater College (Bridgewater, Va.) campus from 1949 - 1950. A note written on the first leaf by Otis D. Kitchen states that he made and developed many of these photographs around Bridgewater College during his freshman year. The photographs show scenes of campus buildings and campus life. The photographs of campus buildings are captioned. Some of the images appear to show students standing in flood water from the Flood of 1949. Also includes multiple images of male students outside their residence halls, photographs of dances, images of theatricals, and some photographs of mild hazing;, probably for the men's athletics association. Some of the images also appear in the Bridgewater College Ripple's yearbook. On black leaves in brown leather or faux leather covers held together with two metal bars. Some photographs later in the album appear to show Kitchen's later young adulthood. |
