Description |
Large, off-white quilt with a backing of the same fabric. The quilt top displays appliques done in dark green and red cotton. Whig Rose featuring a red center in a green circle surrounded by twelve small white triangles angling out and twelve small red triangles fitted into the open spaces and angling in. Around this circular center comes four geometric pointed leaf shapes. Between each of these shapes emerges one green stem, with a total of four. Each green stem leads to three simple leaves, a solid red flower, and a red bud with a green base. This motif is repeated, appearing nine times on the quilt top. One of the motifs features, instead of the solid red fabric, a red calico with a yellow print, as well as two leaves that are clearly of a lighter green than the green used on the rest of the quilt. The border of the quilt top is of the same dark green and is a long stem with simple leaves coming off of it. The appliques are quilted on, in addition to a white quilted pattern on the white background. |
