Description |
Plain brown paper box holding a tray of lettepress printing blocks and compositor's tools. It was owned and used by Shenandoah Valley historian, author and educator, Dr. John W. Wayland, 1872 - 1962. The brown tan box holds a wooden frame and a series of capital letter printing blocks. It also includes symbols, punctuation, flourishes, a white hand stamp and a black hand stamp. A Fulton Self-Inking stamp pad is on one side of the box. It is a yellow metal tin with black printed script. A printer's line gauge and composing stick are laid at the side of the box. The inner lid of the box is stamped with hands, letters and a symbol. |
